The country has a varied topography, with the northern region being dominated by the Himalayas, while the southern region is mostly flat, known as the Terai region. The Terai region, which runs along the southern border of Nepal, is home to many national parks and wildlife reserves. This region is one of the most bio-diverse regions in the world having a tremendous amount of species - both flora and fauna.
Chitwan and Bardia National Parks are two popular protected wilderness areas in Nepal - which offers varied experiences for safari lovers. These parks host a dense population of rhinos, tigers and a plethora of other wildlife. One of the most important highlights about Nepal’s biodiversity is the variety and different species of birds that are found here. Over 800 species of birds have been recorded from Nepal.
Nepal offers an unmatched wilderness experience with numerous ways of exploring these areas which are beyond jeep safaris. Walking safaris, river safaris, sleeping on the river banks are just some of the ways people can immerse themselves in nature.
