December to March/April is the best time to go. This is the time when there is snow in the mountains which makes it possible for the local spotter to track them.

Spotting a snow leopard in the wild can be challenging as they are elusive and well-camouflaged. However, with the help of experienced guides and spotters, your chances of spotting a snow leopard increase dramatically.

You should pack warm clothing, including thermals, insulated jackets, gloves, and hats, as well as sturdy and comfortable hiking boots. It is also advisable to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a water bottle.

With two days of mandatory acclimatization in Leh, a typical snow leopard expedition lasts for around 7-10 days, depending on the itinerary and the success of spotting snow leopards.

The infrastructure has improved a lot over the years and at times Snow Leopards can be seen just off a drivable road. However, a moderate level of physical fitness is required for a snow leopard expedition as there can be several hikes and treks involved in the search for snow leopards.

Equipment such as binoculars and spotting scopes are usually provided during a snow leopard expedition. Camera equipment is not provided on these expeditions. One can rent the equipment. Our team will be help you plan getting the right equipment.

During a snow leopard expedition, you will be staying in a comfortable lodge or a semi-luxurious camp with heated rooms, running hot water and all the essential facilities.
